Session Type: Educational Sessions Session Level: Intermediate Description: This session will provide a multifaceted perspective on the impact of physical therapy in emerging, collaborative health care models. Influences that shape these new models will be presented including the viewpoint of the physician and hospital, business implications for physical therapy, and best available evidence to guide practice development. Finally logistical challenges will be examined with corollary solutions needed to implement this model in a private arena. Presenters will discuss experiences implementing novel delivery models for management of neck and back pain as well as shoulder pain. The session will deliver practical solutions to the challenges of implementing, assessing, and adapting a theoretical construct to a working viable program. Learning Objectives: 1. Identify opportunities for physical therapy to integrate into current emerging delivery and payment models. 2. Describe evidence to support physical therapy first model and limitations. 3. Recognize challenges and potential solutions to successful implementation of a new program. 4. Identify key factors and metrics to understand if a program is a viable long-term solution. CEU: 0.2 |
