Description:
Each day, we make decisions that affect our patients, our practices, our Association, and our profession, and that ultimately determine whether society will recognize the worth of physical therapy. These decisions may be simple or complex, but each comes with some degree of uncertainty. And each is important to the lives of our patients and to the collective health of society.

Making the right decisions when they are complex and uncertain is hard! If we truly mean to transform society by optimizing movement to improve the human experience, we need to make these decisions in the best possible way. This talk will explore two aspects of this decision making. First, what can we learn from cognitive psychology and decision analysis to increase the likelihood of good outcomes? But more importantly, once we have identified good options, are we willing to take risks and make the decisions that are best for our patients and society?
