Session Type: Educational Sessions Session Level: Intermediate Description: Stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) is a novel exercise activity that has been theorized to provide effective strengthening, balance training, and endurance. The sport provides a unique outdoor opportunity in the natural environment and motivates patients' attendance to therapy. This session will provide attendees with a fundamental understanding of how aquatic therapy and SUP can be used as a primary or adjunct form of treatment for children and adults. Photographic representation, videos, and case studies will be included to enhance attendees' ability to analyze the benefits of using alternate forms of aquatic intervention. The presentation will include guidelines on candidate selection, implementation of a SUP program, and techniques used to maximize outcomes. Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this course, you will be able to: 1. Demonstrate understanding of stand-up paddle boarding aquatic therapy and how to implement program at your clinic. 2. Discuss the value of a paddle boarding therapy for children and adults with different abilities and how to transform therapy into fun. 3. Describe different interventions that can be performed using stand-up paddle boarding aquatic therapy. 4.
